So you survived cancer, what’s next?

Do you have a (post) Cancer Survival plan?


Today I received this (sad) letter from a young lady. 

A little about my cancer story:

I was diagnosed in March 2008 at the age of 32 with Breast Cancer in the right breast and 15 out of 24 lymph nodes.
Had a mastectomy of the right breast / Chemo for 6 months and radiation
Have been ‘fine’ since November 2008
In August 2011 I was at a yearly check up where it was discovered the breast cancer was back but as a growth on my liver (7cm)
Have had Chemo (Xeloda) for past 6 months and growth shrunk to 3cm and was the final spot was going to be removed by laser
 Also on Herceptin Chemo every 3 weeks for the past 8 months (continuing with this)
Currently am on a monthly Zoladex injection to suppress my ovaries as too much Estrogen in my body causing the hormones??
Went off all Chemo beginning of April in preparation for the operation

When I went for scans a few days before my op (beginning of May) it was discovered that a secondary growth had started on my liver and has spread to the glands around my liver as well now
Operation was therefore cancelled
Will be starting Chemo again (Paxitaxol) on Friday
Cancer is HORMONE based and is HER2 Receptive


I am interested in trying to clean our my system and get it healthy with natural products.  I will however need to do Chemo for at least 8 weeks before I can have another scan to discuss further with the doctor so will need to do “your suggestions” in conjunction with the Chemo??  Is this possible??

I cannot have any herb based products that are linked to hormones so not sure if this will be a problem??

Maybe some friends have gone through or is currently going through cancer, and has a similar story to tell?
Many volumes has been written on the issue of treating cancer, chemically or naturally so I am not going to go into the details of treating cancer - I have talked about that elsewhere. What I want to do in this article, is to help you formulate a plan of action after you survived cancer, round one. My reason for this is simple; chances are that you are not intensely interested in your health until you develop cancer, the fist time. When this happens you will probably not opt for a natural alternative to fighting cancer, because natural medicine is unknown to you and scoffed at by the ‘scientific’ oncologist treating you for cancer. Furthermore great fear is instilled in you by the oncologists, should you opt for not taking the best (their) treatments.
The path conventional cancer treatment follows is more or less as follows
Girl develops breast cancer. She is rushed through the medical procedures, Scans - Mastectomy - Chemo and she is OK!
The Girl is put on hormone suppressive drugs, because cancer, they say, is hormone fueled.
Four or five years later she goes for a checkup or develops some pain. To her surprise the cancer is back! Only now, the cancer is in the Liver, bones and even possibly the brain.
Once again they opt for the same treatment that ‘worked’ the previous time.
They do more scans, but find that although some of the cancer spots are shrinking, there are more cancer spots forming all the time. The doctors deem the treatment successful as some tumors are shrinking. The metastasizing cancer is now addressed with radiation and stronger chemo drugs.
The girl grows weaker over time, as the combination of cancer, chemo, radiation and pain killing drugs runs her body to the ground.
Girl dies a painful death, with doctors saying they did everything they could.

It CAN be different!
So, you survived the cancer, chemo, radiation and chronic medicine for about a year. Your life is starting to return to normal. You are still on the hormone suppressing drugs. You have some hot flushes and your husband complains that you are sexually cold, all because you are on the wonder hormone that will prevent the cancer from returning. You are free from cancer, or so you are told. Not bad a deal?
Well the fact is that the same root condition that caused cancer to form in your body, is still there. Nothing has changed, and that is the biggest reason why the cancer will return in around 4 to 5 years. 


Do you have a cancer survival plan?
Now that most of the active cancer has been 'eradicated' by the radical toxic and scarring treatments, it is a good time to change your life style. Start by rebuilding your body, and exterminating the remaining cancer that is bound to make its re-appearance in a few years.
How, you ask?

Start by cleansing, nourishing and balancing the body. 
The best program I know of (and advise people to follow) is the Sevenpointfive program. Following this program you cleanse nourish and balance your body, to help it reach optimum functionality. This supports the body's natural healing and cancer fighting process.
Correct your body’s pH.
This means that you need to get your body to a state of alkalinity, not acid. 

In1924 Dr Otto Warburg said: "Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes. But, even for cancer, there is only one prime cause. Summarized in a few words, the prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar." 

This means that when cells are deprived of the life giving oxygen and nutrients, they begin to ferment and cancer develops. By correcting the body pH, this process is reversed naturally and cancer cannot survive. 

Cancer only lives in an acid environment.

The best pH for the body is a pH of 7.5. The best way to obtain this is by correcting your diet and drinking lots of pure water with Coral Calcium sachets added, on a daily basis.
With this you need to take your daily supply of Anti-oxidants, Enzymes, Omega 3, vitamins etc. 
Do you have to take supplements for the rest of your life, every day? Yes! The reason is that the food you eat is no longer all grown naturally, organically and harvested when it’s ripe. This depletes the nutritional value of your food and the protective ability it has on your  body.  
Diet
Start eating natural and organically grown food. By this I mean, don’t eat fast foods, drink Coke or other fizzy drinks, SA beer, sugary foods, instant coffee, breakfast cereals, sweets, cake, biscuits or sweetener. Also avoid all processed meats like ham, salami, viennas, poloni, fish/chicken/meat out of a box, or food prepared in/for chain stores. Use fresh herbs and spices from the garden. Avoid defrosting, heating or cooking ANYTHING in the microwave oven.
Drink high quality (KDF filtered) water with Coral Calcium sachets every day. Drink around 70% of your ideal body weight/14 days every day.
Avoid taking drugs on a regular basis for aches and pains, depression, cholesterol etc. Rather try hard to find the root cause (usually acid) of these ailments. 
If you live a very stressful life or work in a super stressful environment, put a plan into action to get out or change it so that you remove as much stress as possible. Make sure you don’t walk around with tormenting issues like unforgiveness. These cause constant health issues and make you more acid and that can reactivate cancer.
Get lots of direct sunlight on your skin every day. The sun is (contrary to popular belief) not your enemy. Exposure to the sun every day produces cancer-fighting Vitamin D in your body. 
Take your daily dose of high quality Anti-oxidants, B-Vitamins, Minerals, Herbs and Omega 3. I recommend taking Sevenpointfive, as in all honesty, I have found nothing better in 15 years of practice.

Some time ago a man came for a first time blood analysis complaining about his general health, immune system, stress, depression and tiredness. He seemed healthy on first observations but as the consultation progressed I found that when I wanted to take a finger tip blood sample he could hardly move his left arm.
When I questioned Brian about his shoulder it became apparent that this had been a long standing issue and that it would come and go, with short intervals of the shoulder being better. 
This is so typical to see; people complain about one small issue like tiredness, but in actual fact they have grown accustomed to being vertically ill.
As I looked at his blood under the microscope, I found that his cells were clogged together and that he had an acidic pH. These observations were serious, since in time, it may lead to more than 150 degenerative diseases.
With further investigation I found that he had about 3 glasses of water, one or two beers, three cups of rooibos tea, canned soda, and juice per day. In his mind these were quite a lot of fluid, and hence his disbelief when I told him that he was completely dehydrated.

After all, 3 glasses of water is hardly enough water to hydrate the body.  Tea, cool drinks etc are not the “fluid” you would do your laundry in, is it? Well, its the same for your body, you need pure water to cleanse, not tea, coffee and soft drinks!
I suggested a 5 day detox program and some supplements - the Pack-O-Life to cleanse and alkalinize his body, Mindset for the immense stress he was under as a young business owner, and for the sore shoulder I gave him CMO and Omega SLO to take daily to reduce the inflammation and help heal the shoulder.
Five days later I saw him for a follow up to see how he was doing. He admitted that doing a detox, excluding all his favourites like beer, tea, and soft drinks was hard for him. He experienced headaches and mild nausea during two of the detox days. He persevered and after 5 days he was feeling much better; he had more energy, no longer had a feeling of being down and depressed BUT best of all his shoulder was beginning to heal up - so much so that he was able to do everything he had to as a motor mechanic. He was ecstatic!
Summary:

Brian thought that he was taking in a lot of ‘fluid’ and that it was hydrating him adequately and that it was OK that his shoulder was always sore. He was unaware that he was basically vertically ill. He also never gave it any thought that the way he was feeling had anything to do with what he ate or drank.
The main problem that Brian had was that he was completely dehydrated and very Acidic. This lead to most of the problems he experienced. We should make sure that we are always well hydrated with alkaline water. As a guideline use 70% of your body’s goal weight over 14 days in pure KDF water with Coral Calcium sachets in the water. (Body weight X 0.7 / 14 days = amount of water needed per day)
The fact that he was complaining about a few minor issues shows what can happen when you grow accustomed to more serious and debilitating health issues.
After Brian cleansed, nourished and balanced his body by taking the supplements as we suggested, his blood looked much better and was no longer clotted together. This made it easy for his blood to carry oxygen to the individual cells and bring healing to his entire body.

No Wheat Dairy and Sugar

In today’s life many people suffer from allergies, digestive problems like bloatedness and IBS, constipation, weight gain, sinus related problems, eczema, asthma, ADD etc. In the many years I have spent in clinical practice, the single thing that have stood out more than any other is the little or no attention medical professionals give to the role diet plays in a patients health. The medical view is that diet is not important as all foods gets broken down into glucose anyway. They see allergies and digestive problems as disorders, syndromes or illnesses for which the only remedy is a chronic drug or surgical procedure. When a patient asks a doctor whether changing his/her diet will make any difference in their health condition, the answer is a stern NO!
I have never heard of any Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist or Gastroenterologist (specialist in bowl disorders) ask a patient about their diet or recommend a diet change to alleviate their symptoms.
According to these specialist the problem usually lies somewhere inside the body and it needs to be treated, but in actual fact, the problem lies outside the body.
Consider the following analogy;
It is common sense not to eat wood. But if some clever marketing is done to improve the taste, texture, and appearance and if people in authority on nutrition starts proclaiming the health benefits of it, people will eat it. Over time it will become part of their daily diet.
When people start developing digestive issues, allergies and other ailments from eating wood and end up in the doctor’s consulting room, they will leave with a drug to suppress the symptoms of eating wood. No doctor will tell them to simply stop eating wood! Dietitians will tell them they need wood as part of a balanced diet. Fellow humans will tell them that God created wood, so it must be ok - how can we live without eating wood.
If they meet someone with some remaining common sense, they are amazed (if they follow the advice) that they got well by simply changing their diet - avoiding wood.
Most problems of people I consult with on a daily basis, is the diet. We live in a society where people will eat just about anything, as long as it tastes great, has the CANSA or Heart Foundation stamp on it and is fat free. Although people are very particular about what kind of oil or fuel they put in their expensive vehicles, they seem oblivious to the fact that the body, a far more delicate machine is affected by what they consume. This is affirmed by specialist doctors and dietitians that keep hammering it into people’s heads that you can eat everything and that diet plays no role in your health - just eat a balanced diet and you don’t need any supplements.

Four cups of coffee a day could help keep womb cancer at bay


Research has linked regular consumption with lower odds of endometrial cancer, the most common form of the disease. 
Women who drank four or more cups a day over many years were 25 per cent less likely to develop the disease than those who limited themselves to less than a cup daily.
Both caffeinated and decaffeinated varieties seemed to help ward off the disease, although tea had no effect, the 26-year study of almost 70,000 women found.
Drunk regularly, coffee may help lower levels of hormones believed to fuel the cancer, the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention reports. Endometrial cancer affects 6,400 British women a year in the UK and kills an estimated 1,000 annually. 
Risk goes up with age, weight and with having a mother who had the disease.

The researchers, from Harvard School of  Public Health in the U.S., said: ‘Increasing exercise and maintaining normal body weight are probably the most important ways to prevent endometrial cancer.


‘However, additional strategies are needed and dietary habits such as coffee drinking could provide one option.’ They cautioned that  adding cream and sugar to the beverage may cancel out the effects, as may smoking.

A total of 672 cases of the cancer, which affects the lining of the uterus, were reported over  the 26-year span of the study.
Senior researcher Edward Giovannucci said coffee could help against cancers associated with obesity, insulin and oestrogen, and that it had been shown to improve insulin resistance.
He said: ‘Coffee has already been shown to be protective against diabetes due to its effect on insulin, so we hypothesised that we’d see a reduction in some cancers as well.’
Professor Giovannucci added: ‘Laboratory testing has found that coffee has much more antioxidants than most vegetables and fruits.’

Women with high cholesterol live longer, have fewer heart attacks and strokes!

If the diagnosis of high cholesterol sounds like a death sentence to your ears, you may be the victim of cholesterol propaganda. It's not uncommon to believe that lower is better when it comes to cholesterol, but new research shows otherwise. In fact, a recent study in Norway says women with high cholesterol live longer and suffer from fewer heart attacks and strokes than those with lower cholesterol.

Can high cholesterol save your life?
Researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology looked at 52,087 individuals between the ages of 20 and 74. After adjusting for factors like age, smoking and blood pressure, researchers found women with high cholesterol (more than 270 mg/dl) had a 28 percent lower mortality risk than women with low cholesterol (under 193 mg/dl). Risk for heart disease, cardiac arrest and stroke also declined as cholesterol levels rose.

The researchers involved in the study admit this contradicts commonly accepted beliefs about cholesterol. They say current guideline information is misleading because the role of cholesterol in heart disease is overestimated.

These results fly in the face of what most of us have been told about cholesterol. Our misconceptions about cholesterol may in fact be endangering countless lives. For instance, millions of people are prescribed statin drugs to lower their cholesterol levels, believing that this will save their lives. Not only do statin drugs come with a plethora of dangerous side effects, but now the very premise of their existence is also brought into question.

Our focus on lowering cholesterol to prevent heart disease and mortality is misplaced. It also fails to serve in the best interest of our health and wellness. In fact, the dogmatic belief that cholesterol must be lowered appears to best serve pharmaceutical companies, which profit from cholesterol-lowering drugs.

Better results will be achieved when we develop a more well-rounded focus on other risks for heart disease, which include stress, toxins, a sedentary lifestyle and a poor diet. As an added bonus, these factors aren't treated with dangerous pharmaceutical drugs, but with simple, healthful lifestyle changes.
